It's 2018! Twelve Oaks is ringing in the New Year by welcoming our first litter in just 2 short weeks. As we are starting our lines from the beginning, we will be using the first few litters to determine what genes our breeders are carrying and "flush" them out to create pure, consistent lines. Basically, this first litter is going to be a grab bag.
For a mini genetic lesson, Cinder is black and Misha is Amber which is a diluted version of Agouti. Assuming the parents have no carriers, all babies will be agouti because ragout is dominant over black. There will be a few pet only babies available for adoption. After I determine which little critters I'll be holding back, the others will be ready for pickup around March 30th. If you're interested, like our facebook page so you can stay up to date on their progress. I'll be posting photos quite often during their first few weeks and will let everyone know which applications have opened up. That's it for this one folks, thanks for dropping by!

Hey there friends!
If you've stumbled across this page, you might be from North Carolina and you might be a rat enthusiast. Welcome! Twelve Oaks is a brand new rattery so we are making sure to take our time before we start producing litters available to the public so that we can get all the details right! We care nothing more about the health and happiness of our litter critters so we appreciate your patience while we get things up and running! We have decided to add a blog to the site in hopes that we will be able to share lots of cool information for everyone including fun DIYs, rat trivia, cute pictures of our fur babies and much more! We expect to have our first litter available in late spring of next year if all goes as planned. We are starting from fresh (unknown) lines so the possibilities in this first year are absolutely endless. We are very excited to see what the first couple litters revealed. Because of unknown health history of these lines, they will be adopted out as pet only until stated otherwise. Currently, little Micah is hanging out on my shoulder. He's a beautiful, very calm tempered, inquisitive little champagne. His temperament is exactly what I want from these lines so its only fitting that he be the founding Buck. We don't have pictures of all the ratties up on the site yet but definitely stay tuned because I'm a little obsessed with pet photography. |
