Dollar Tree RAT SuppliesI don't know about you, but I love to save money wherever I can. Buying items specifically targeted for pets can get expensive fast. Rats especially, really love to chew and just generally destroy things. This makes replacing already pricey toys quite wasteful. Through lots of suggests from other rat owners as well as trial and error, I've created a list of things you can use to make or use as toys that can all be found at Dollar Tree. I'm still adding to this list so watch for updated posts and let me know if you have something to add!

Today's post is about quarantining and introducing new rats to your mischief. If you haven't already taken a look at our updated adoption policy, we now require that rats be adopted in pairs. This means we are no longer allowing those who already to have rats to only adopt one from our litters. This policy ensures that the quarantine and introductory period is less stressful your babies as they will already have a buddy! If you're unfamiliar with quarantining or what tips on how to introduce your new babies, read on!c
We have lift off!!
Okay, well not exactly. But we do have our first litter! My special little girl, Nerf, graced me with 9 little beans early the morning of January 18th. Every single one was the picture of health with perfect little milk bands by the end of the first day. It is now day 2 and I'm starting to see a hint of some patterning and color. We have at least 2 that are hooded and the rest are kind of a grab bag at the moment. Over the next few days they will start to get more hair and I'll be able to see what exactly we've got going on. I've posted this info on the nursery page also but I'll be posting individual photos of the beans around the middle of February and reservations will open on Valentines Day. Pick ups will begin March 1st. If this litter isn't great timing for you, have no fear! There are at least two other litters planned this year and I'll definitely keep you all up to date on the happenings here at the rattery. I've already received some interest which is fantastic so I really appreciate the support I've received thus far. Feel free to comment on the blogs with any questions you may have. Next post will be an introduction to ratty genetics for those that may be curious. |
